Review: Follow Me Back + Giveaway

Follow Me Back
Follow Me Back by A.V. Geiger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What?? Mind. Blown. Ok, let me start off by saying I went into this with sort of low expectations. I almost even put down the book at the beginning because as an adult reader of YA, I was suspicious that it was too childish for me: Oh, the poor, poor rock star who hates being so popular. I was interested in Tessa because I have personal experience with agoraphobia and you don’t see it often.

Well, I am so glad I didn’t put this book down! I started this book and read it all night because I just couldn’t put it down. The book jumps between Twitter conversations and police interrogation records. And without giving anything away let’s just say there’s more than one twist at the end. If you don’t like cliffhangers, this book isn’t for you. I usually don’t, but I am clinging to hope that the next book will pick up where this one left off (even if I have to wait a year!) and I’ll get some answers!

Harvest Book Review

A great guide on ways to utilize garden plants in recipes and projects. You can use parts you hadn’t even considered and it’s a great way for utilizing plants that are not edible too!

Eat Beautiful {Book Review}

9780804189583

First off, I am in love with the look of this book. If you love to collect books of different colors, this would make a beautiful rose-gold addition. I like to sort my bookcase by color and this is a solid color. I give this book 5 stars, and here’s why:
The photography is gorgeous. (who doesn’t love a pretty picture?)
The recipes are for enhancing health and beauty, with detailed explanations on why each food is good for what.
The recipes are sorted by season and there’s a separate section of beauty tips, supplements and superfoods, and a guide to nutrients. This is the perfect compliment to my Nutri bullet I got for Christmas!

Cure: A Journey into the Science of Mind Over Body {Book Review}

9780385348171

I’ve always believed in the power of mind over matter, to a degree anyhow. I’m learning that life is all about perspective. The brain is a tricky thing, just look at people with conversion disorders. They’re “sick” because the brain is trying to cope with something traumatic. It can create symptoms and it can help heal things (within reason, of course). Like the book description, adrenaline after a car accident is a perfect example. Or that video that’s viral right now about a 2 year old lifting a shelf off of his twin to save his life. As someone with invisible illness (RA, lupus, migraines, to name a few) I find this book very useful in my healing journey as I am trying my best to avoid the cancer-causing medication that is typical treatment.

Wake Up to the Joy of You {Book Review}

51pggllqppl-_sy344_bo1204203200_

This book couldn’t come at a better time. I’m not usually one for New Year resolutions, but this year I want to let go of negativity and anger. The meditations are listed by category and range from overcoming your childhood to letting go of negativity to bettering your health. Any negative aspect of life can be focused on. The meditations aren’t too long, making it easy to do one a day/week etc.
